God created you to dream. He wired desire into the very fabric of who you are. But there’s a difference between asking God to bless your dream and walking fully into the dream He has for you. Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) puts it beautifully: “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
That’s a stunning thought. Before you were born, God had already mapped out good things for your life. A key part of maturing in faith is learning to discern His plans from our own preferences. I’ve had the privilege of chasing God dreams for decades now—through ministry, business, and everything in between—and along the way, I’ve noticed some patterns. Whether you’re just starting to hear God’s whisper or you’ve been running hard after His call for years, here are five things you can expect as you move deeper into the will of God.
5 Components of a God Dream
1. There Will Be Risk—So You’ll Need Faith
Let me say it plainly: every good thing in life lives on the other side of risk. As believers, we understand that as faith. Walking by faith means stepping into the unknown, and that is never entirely comfortable.
Hebrews 11:1-3 tells us that faith is how our hopes become reality: “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see… By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.”
Without faith, your God dream simply will not come to pass.
Look at Abraham. Romans 4:19-21 says that without weakening in his faith, he faced the reality that he and Sarah were both well past childbearing years—and yet he did not waver. In fact, the futility of his situation only increased his faith. He was fully persuaded that God could do what He promised.
That’s the standard. Your spirit, soul, and body need to be fully persuaded too. When you feel like you’re standing on the edge of nothingness, press in deeper. That’s usually where God is doing His best work.

2. There Will Be More Than You Can Handle Alone—So You’ll Need to Surrender
A God dream is, by design, too big for you. That’s not an accident. God crafted it that way so that He gets the glory and so that you stay close to Him.
Becky and I learned this firsthand. We were pastoring a growing church in Louisiana. Things were going well, people were showing up, the ministry was bearing fruit. Then God made it clear we were supposed to pick up and move to Colorado. Now, I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to plant a church in the Rocky Mountain West, but people out there would rather go skiing on Sunday morning. It took years for that church to get off the ground.
But here’s what the Holy Spirit revealed to us much later: had we not obeyed that uncomfortable call, we would never have connected with Andrew Wommack Ministries. Tricord Global would not exist. WealthBuilders would not exist. The very obedience that felt like a setback was actually the setup for everything God had in store.
God will ask you to leave the familiar. He’ll ask you to let go of what you trust and depend on so that He alone becomes your provider and leader. His dreams are always bigger than ours, and they require complete reliance on His strength, not ours.

3. There Will Be Divine Connections and Kairos Moments—You’ll Have the Right People at the Right Time
God has a treasure chest full of people you haven’t met yet, opportunities you haven’t stepped into, and experiences you haven’t had. He sprinkles these like spiritual breadcrumbs along your path to lead you toward His purposes.
Our calling is never just about us. The path to a God dream is paved by relationships. Isaiah 43:5-7 makes clear that God actively gathers His people together to accomplish His plans:
“Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will gather you and your children from east and west. I will say to the north and south, ‘Bring my sons and daughters back to Israel from the distant corners of the earth. Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them.”
When we started Tricord Global, all I had was an idea to do microfinance in developing nations. I didn’t have the right partner yet. Then God rerouted one of my trips to Uganda, and I met Pastor Herbert, a man who had been praying for someone like me to help him start a Christian bank for years. He didn’t know me, and I didn’t know him. But God did. That’s a divine connection at a Kairos moment. (It’s an incredible story that we shared at The 2026 WealthBuilders Conference. If you didn’t get the chance to come, I recommend purchasing the Conference USB).
Stay sensitive to the people God puts around you every day. The right person at the right time can change the entire trajectory of your story.
4. There Will Be Opposition—So You’ll Need Boldness
In 1 Samuel 17, when everyone else cowered before Goliath, David didn’t flinch. Why? Because he had a track record with God. He’d already faced a lion and a bear while protecting his father’s sheep, and God had delivered him. That history gave him boldness to face what seemed impossible.
When you take a step towards the dream, a lion and a bear will come after you. That’s not a sign you missed God. Rather, it’s often a sign that you are right on track. The key is to go after the lions, bears, and Goliaths that try to get in the way of what God wants to do through you.
Here’s what I’ve learned: Satan will try to hang disappointment around your neck like a trophy. When something doesn’t go the way you planned, it’s tempting to assume you missed God’s voice entirely. Don’t do that to yourself.
Instead, ask God two honest questions:
1. Lord, did I miss it, and where do I need to adjust?
2. What needs to change in me?
That posture of humility and inquiry is exactly what keeps you moving forward.
5. There Will Be Growth—Because It’s You That Needs to Change
In the face of opposition, it’s usually not the dream that needs to change. It’s you. God uses the pressure of a deferred dream to do some of His most important formation work in your character.
Don’t just go through it. Grow through it.
Pay attention to what rises to the surface during seasons of waiting or disruption. Anger, offense, pride, limited thinking are often indicators of areas where God wants to do transforming work. As Jeremiah 17:9 reminds us, the heart is deceitful above all else. We need God to search us and reveal what’s in the way.
Here’s the good news: you have Holy Spirit dynamite living inside of you. The power to move forward is already there. Most of the time, the only thing standing between you and your God dream is you. Jesus defeated death and sin at the cross, but He didn’t remove your idols. Those are surrendered one choice at a time.
There Is a Dream Worth Chasing
Every one of these elements—the risk, the surrender, the right people, the opposition, and the growth—is part of the journey God designed. They’re not obstacles to the dream. They are the dream, unfolding exactly as He planned.
So wherever you are right now, whether you’re just beginning to hear God’s call or you’ve been walking this road for years, take heart. He who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it. Keep pressing in. Keep surrendering. And keep your eyes open for the divine connections and Kairos moments He’s already placed along your path.
The dream He has for you is worth every step.

This really blessed me. i have a question when God has a purpose for us is it only connected to what we are gifted to do or is the opposite.
