Last week Becky and I hosted a great live stream where we gave our advice to small businesses in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. So many of you commented that you needed to hear our advice, so I wanted to put it in a blog post as well. I know it can be discouraging, and I know the uncertainty is hard to handle. But, I also know that there is hope. Your small business can survive this, in fact, it can thrive!

How Your Small Business Can Thrive Post-Coronavirus

Find Your Center

During our live stream, we got a question from a viewer who was discouraged as a business owner during this troubling time. The advice I gave them, and the advice I’d give you, is to find your center. This is where prayer comes in. I encourage you to take the time and really listen to what the Lord is telling you about you and where you need to be. Last year I recorded a video outlining how Becky and I pray every single morning. You can watch it here!

Relax and Be Proactive

Each state has different guidelines regarding businesses reopen, so maybe you’re back in business or maybe you aren’t. Either way, I encourage you to take this time and reflect on your business thus far. Often, when you own a small business, all of your worries are in the present. You don’t have time to reflect because you’ve got to get things taken care of now! Well, with all this time you can look back and see what was working and what wasn’t. You can re-evaluate your revenue streams or even your customer segments. I always say even if you’ve had a business for 10 years, you should go back and evaluate your business plan. You can read more about that on another blog here!

Take Action on Direction

Once you find your center with God and He provides you with direction through your research, it’s time to take action! If you’re not at this step yet, don’t worry. Keep listening and reflecting, direction will come. If you did receive direction like pivoting or maybe a new revenue stream, then take the first steps to make it a reality. Again, the benefit of this time is that you have time to research and develop these ideas. Ask for help if you need it, but get ready to take some action!
