As we wrap up our focus on the investments for Tricord Global and Social Impact, I wanted to start a new series on the blog all about Personal Development. Tricord and WealthBuilders were birthed out of my passion and purpose, and they became my vocation. I get to live out my dream, and I want to help you live yours out as well. That’s why today, we’re talking about the Big Three, how they interact, and how you can merge them all to live your best life.

Passion

strong or extravagant fondness, enthusiasm, or desire for anything

-Dictionary.com

You will know when you have a passion for something. Like the dictionary says, it’s an intense feeling towards something. I am passionate about people, that’s why I was a pastor, and now my mission is to train and help entrepreneurs. You won’t be able to stop thinking about your passion, and you will look forward to doing it in your free time or on your days off. Now, people can have lots of passions. Not all of them will be your vocation, but we will touch on that later. It is important to first identify what it is that you are passionate about. I encourage you to think on this and pray on this before we move on. I have a worksheet to help you identify these, you can find it at the end of this post.

Purpose

The reason for which something exists or is done, made, used, etc.

-Dictionary.com

Each and every one of us has a purpose. This is bigger than your passions; it’s the overarching message of your life. When you look back, what do you wish other people would say about you? What do you hope other people learn from you or gain from being around you? I believe my purpose is to train others. Ask yourself how you want to help other people. What do you think you could teach them? Finding your purpose is a lot harder than listing out your passions. My best advice is to answer those questions and pray about it.

Vocation

particular occupation, business, or profession

-Dictionary.com

Vocation is your job or what you do for a living. I teach on passive income in Money Mastery, but most Americans earn their money from a job. Whether you are an employee or a business owner, or you make passive income, you should match it with your purpose. When we have people living on purpose and helping others in the best way they know how then we can make the world a better place. How do you do this? You take your purpose and figure out how to make it a revenue stream. This is the most basic aspect of a business. You can read more on the business model canvas here.

Is your vocation a mix of your passion and purpose? If not, think about steps you can take to make this happen.

I will be opening up registration for my annual WealthBuilders Conference soon, where myself and several other amazing speakers will be teaching on subjects similar to this. Our vision is to celebrate Christian entrepreneurs! Sound like something you would be interested in? Keep your eyes out!
