Did you know that God has a land for you?

He wants to partner with you as you serve and steward the communities where you live and work.

Matthew 5:14 says, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden” (NKJV). Real estate investing is a great way to position yourself as that light. Through investing, you can bless individuals and neighborhoods while generating wealth for Kingdom purposes.

If you’re going to answer the call to possess your land, you’ll need a blueprint. Here are four steps to help you get started:

1. Overcome Fear

2. Evaluate Your Grace Space

3. Determine Your Why

4. Get in the Game!

1. Overcome Fear

The first step to possessing your land is trusting that God will help you get there! You have to eliminate any fear of failure and replace it with trust. Numbers 13-14 provides a great illustration of what this looks like.

God asked Moses to “Send out men to explore the land of Canaan, the land I am giving to the Israelites” (Numbers 13:2, NLT). So, Moses sent twelve men to scout out the land, and they gave the following report:

“We entered the land you sent us to explore, and it is indeed a bountiful country– a land flowing with milk and honey. Here is the kind of fruit it produces. But the people living there are powerful, and their towns are large and fortified.” (Numbers 13:27-28, NLT)

The land was so lush that it took two men to carry a single cluster of grapes! (Numbers 13:23) Yet, ten out of the twelve men were so afraid of the people already living in the land that they didn’t want to go. They let their fear speak louder than God’s promise! Because of their lack of trust, God vowed, “Not one of these people will ever enter that land” (Numbers 14:22, NLT).

However, God let Caleb and Joshua, the only two with faith that God would give them victory, enter the land flowing with milk and honey. He promised their descendants would enjoy the land, too. It has a generational impact when you overcome fear and take faith-filled steps to attain God’s promises!

2. Evaluate Your Grace Space

As you overcome fear and submit your real estate investing journey to God, He will highlight specific areas and types of properties for you. I call this your “grace space.” It may be in your current zip code, or God may give you the vision to invest in a different city.

Here’s how ‘the grace space’ functions with some of the investors on our WealthBuilders platform: Our Vice President, Karen Conrad Metcafe, has a grace space with vacation rentals and flips in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Pastor Dan Dyer’s grace space is in Indiana, where he has well over 40 properties and a gift for teaching his congregation how to achieve financial freedom. God gave Colin Carr a grace space in the healthcare real estate industry, empowering his company to become the nation’s leading provider of medical and healthcare real estate services for tenants and buyers.

So, grab a map, and think about what parts of the world make your heart come alive. Be sure to run through our real estate formulas to ensure it’s a good area for investing, too. However, if the Lord directs you to a place, He can give you creative financing strategies that work in that market. With the space comes the strategies. The blueprint and your land are tied together.

3. Determine Your Why

Possessing your land requires hard work, so you will need strong motivation. Vision and endurance will come as a result of your “why.” Here are some questions to help you brainstorm:

  • What do you want to leave for the next generation?
  • What impact and influence do you want to have on your community? How can real estate be a gateway for that?
  • How do you want to conduct your financial endeavors differently than previous generations in your family?

For example, in our WealthBuilders coaching program, we have several clients who want to be the first in their families to break out of the paycheck-to-paycheck cycle. Others want to recover land that was taken from their family by unjust means.

So, get into God’s presence and ask Him to reveal how real estate could bring redemption or be a gateway to your dreams!

4. Get in the Game!

God will give you the land, but you have to be the one who takes the faith-filled actions necessary to possess it. Deuteronomy 1:8 (NKJV) says, “See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—to give to them and their descendants after them.'”

At some point, you must step off the sidelines and get in the game. Every new level of real estate investing requires risk and moving into the unknown. However, you don’t have to go into battle alone.

At WealthBuilders, we are passionate about coming alongside investors in The Body of Christ as they possess their land and advance the Kingdom of God. We invite you to join us at our upcoming Real Estate Workshop, October 11-13th, in Denver, Colorado, or via livestream.
