Starting a business takes serious creativity. To succeed as an entrepreneur, you must solve a problem or meet a need nobody else addresses. Not everyone may understand or support you when you start a business. You must have the confidence to design your future and the courage to take a step of faith.

In fact, the value of faith in business cannot be overstated. Entrepreneurs create something out of nothing. Faith is the essential ingredient that empowers them to endure the highs and lows.

Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” As you step into entrepreneurship or scale your business, you must be convinced you can succeed.

This blog covers three ways you can level up your faith as it relates to your business goals and dreams:

1. Hover Over The Idea With God

2. Visualize Yourself Inside Your Goals

3. Don’t Settle– Exercise Patience

The Value of Faith in Business: 3 Ways to Level Up Your Faith

1. Hover Over The Idea With God

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.” Genesis 1:1-2

As Christian entrepreneurs, we don’t want to have faith in good ideas–we want to have faith in God ideas. We serve a God who crafted the entire universe out of nothing. He is the source of all creativity and power. Here’s the insane part– you are made in HIS image (Genesis 1:27). You are made in the image of a Creator, so you are a creator.

God invites us to hover over the nothingness and darkness in our lives to create something new. Integrating your faith into your business starts with laying your ideas and resources before God in prayer. Hover over the idea and ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate divine strategies and connections. In the same way God lit up the darkness with a simple phrase, He will show you how to see your situation in a new light.

2. Visualize Yourself Inside Your Goals

“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” (Mark 11:24, NKJV)

Once you’ve received divine direction by hovering over your business idea with God, you can confidently move forward with your goals. The value of faith in business is that you can believe your business will succeed before you see results.

To exercise faith, you must believe that you are in possession of your goals before you ever obtain them. For instance, have you ever been desperately thirsty and gulped down a bottle of ice-cold mineral water? If so, you have some idea of how faith works. Before you sipped the water, you knew it would refresh you. You could anticipate the cool, refreshing sensation before the bottle touched your lips.

Faith works the same way in the spiritual dimension. Through faith, you can experience a foretaste of your desires before you attain them. This is a discernment tool. Visualizing yourself inside your goals lets you know when a potential decision or change doesn’t align with your God-given vision. Every time you exercise your faith and experience the sensations of change before it happens, you increase your belief that transformation is possible regardless of any obstacles you encounter.

3. Don’t Settle–Exercise Patience.

“Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes.” (Proverbs 19:2, NLT)

Now that you’ve heard from God and visualized yourself achieving your goals, have patience until the right time and opportunity! Entrepreneurs are go-getters by design. Our challenge (and blessing) is surrendering to God’s pace for each season of our lives and business.

I’ve had to learn this lesson repeatedly, especially in real estate. In my early days, I was so eager to jump on properties the minute they hit the market. After learning hard lessons and losing money, I realized that patience was my best friend in anything business-related. The right deal, business partner, employee, etc., will arrive at the right time.

I love how Proverbs 19:2 puts it– “enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes.” Now, I’ve gained knowledge, understanding, and wisdom, so I stick to real estate formulas, and if the numbers don’t work, I don’t move forward.

Financial wisdom is paramount in business, but you also want to ensure your business decisions have the favor factor. The value of faith in business is that it empowers you to exercise patience for opportunities that are marked by God’s favor. These are the deals that turn into testimonies and leave you saying, “only God.” Favor turns the mundane into the miraculous!

Stay connected to God, visualize your business as successful, and have big faith in God to do the impossible through you. Never forget that God can use you to make a difference in your community, city, and world!
