This Wednesday, I’ll be driving down to Woodland Park to teach on real estate investing at the three-day Charis Business Summit. My team and I have been rushing around for the last several weeks preparing us for this event. This is the first Business Summit hosted by Charis Business School, and we’re expecting several hundred people—which is pretty amazing!

Today is the last day to register!. Check it out here.

As I’ve been preparing for this summit, I’ve been thinking a lot about how to stay at the top of your game as an entrepreneur. Here are three tips for staying in peak condition as an entrepreneur:

  1. Attend Business Summits! There are so many opportunities for event-based growth. I love seminars and conferences because they offer something books and programs can’t: experience. Something happens at these events that can’t be captured through a DVD series. The infectiousness and excitement of so many people in one building for one purpose cannot be underestimated. Not only do you network and build relationships, but you leave that venue feeling reenergized for the work you’re returning to. I would recommend you attend 1-3 (or more) conferences a year. And try to add variety! This brings me to the next point…
  2. Try New and Different Things. Don’t be afraid to break out of your realm of experience. While it’s definitely important that you attend a general business conference once a year, it’s also a great idea to try out some specific genres: online marketing, social media, sales, product creation, customer service, etc. The list goes on. When I retired, smart phones hadn’t come out yet. I had no idea how much business and marketing was changing around me. But when I got back, I faced it head on. I surrounded myself with a young team. They benefited from my experience and I benefited from their ideas. I fed myself a diet of books, programs and blogs to see what online business practices are working these days. While I would have been content to do business as normal, I would have missed out on an exciting world of possibilities. Never be afraid to try something new!
  3. Create Your Own Daily Digest—and Read It! Following entrepreneur and online marketing blogs has been wonderful for our growth as a business and my own energy as an entrepreneur. I recommend taking a day to do tons of research on blogs and platforms. Find a handful that you relate to and are inspired by. Then find a handful of writers who challenge you. Add them all into a feed and give yourself a reading schedule for the week. Fit a half hour in a day, and you will be brimming with ideas for your business.

As entrepreneurs, we always have to stay on top of restlessness and burn out. Hopefully these three tips will inspire you.

The Charis Business Summit will take place June 10th-12th in Woodland Park. I look forward to seeing you there! Register and learn more here. Registration ends June 8th!
