As you know, one of my biggest passions is to equip people to know how to build wealth in order to make a difference. My personal motto, and the mission statement of Wealthbuilders is: Making Sense of Making Money for Making A Difference. I teach on many facets of this subject, but today I am sharing with you 7 attitudes every wealth builder should adopt (an excerpt from my book Money Mastery).

  1. Accept Personal Responsibility

Many adults suffer from blame shifting syndrome. I find that many people lose interest when they find out they are personally responsible for making it happen, but accepting personal responsibility is the highest form of human maturity. You are where you are largely due to the choices you have made, with few exceptions.

We are responsible for doing what we can do to change our circumstances. In order for your circumstances to change, you must change. You may not be able to change the destination of your money at this very moment, but you certainly can change the direction. You are responsible for your direction, even in the midst of opposition. So let’s forgo the excuses and stop blaming everyone else. By accepting responsibility, you are taking the steering wheel to wealth building into your own hands.

  1. Take Personal Control

Once you’ve accepted the responsibility, it’s time to take control. Making a personal choice about what you are going to do with your life is the single most independent thing you can do. God gave you the power of personal choice so that you can take personal control.

We are bombarded with messages of who we should be, how we should think, and what we should look like each and every day. Outside influences are perpetually trying to mold you. You must take personal control of your life and refuse to be ruled by somebody else’s opinion. You have a right to make choices pertaining to your own life, and you have more control than you think you do.

  1. Expect The Best

The next attitude for personal change is to expect the best. What are your expectations with wealth? Are they negative or positive? You can’t have an attitude of expecting the best and be depressed. It’s impossible. Expecting the best is as simple as seeing your future in a positive light. When you are looking forward to something, you have hope.

To develop an attitude of expecting the best, ponder these questions:

  • What images am I presently concentrating on in my mind?
  • What images could I focus on that would motivate me to expect the best?
  • What choices am I intentionally making that ensure my present attitude stays empowering rather than defeating?
  1. Be Willing to Be Creative

Do you feel stuck in your current financial situation? Get creative with how you can move forward. Being creative is the most God-like thing you can do. God is the ultimate Creator. He had a blueprint inside Himself of what He wanted this universe to look like, and He spoke the world into existence out of what He saw. God has given you an imagination like His so that you can speak out the things you imagine for your own life.

History is filled with people who dared to imagine physical things that had never before existed. Those dreamers were often laughed at by those who declared the ideas impossible. But guess what? Those dreams became realities with a little perseverance and persistence. When you really believe there is a way to lay hold of the changes you desire, you become willing to be creative.
