Whether you’re buying or selling, having a seasoned real estate agent readily available in your contact list will benefit you in the long-run. Real estate agents can help turn a stressful and complicated experience into a smooth process. Because when you’re making one of the biggest decisions in your life, it’s essential that you have an agent by your side who is knowledgeable, experienced, and trustworthy enough to put your needs first!

The problem is, finding a real estate agent isn’t always easy and straightforward. It’s time-consuming and involves a little extra effort on your part. However, if you’re buying or selling, this due diligence will come in handy when you’re on the verge of making major financial decisions. When a great deal of money is at stake, wouldn’t you rather have someone beside you that you can trust? If the answer is yes, then keep reading on to learn my three tips to finding the right real estate agent.

Ask Around in Your Network:

One of the best ways to find an established and experienced real estate agent is by reaching out to your social network. Researching for agents online is quick and easy, but I prefer to receive a referral from a trusted companion who has experience working closely with an agent. So, if you have a handful of people that you’ve been meaning to reach out to, you now have an excuse! I recommend asking people who have recently bought and sold a house for their advice and guidance.

Real estate markets can change quickly, therefore, stick with people who have worked with an agent within the past year. If you’re having a difficult time finding an agent, start sifting through online search engines. But keep in mind if you go this route, it’s important to take the time to interview any potential prospects. Remember, you’re going to be spending a lot of time with this person. Therefore so it’s necessary that you find someone you that you are comfortable with and can trust!

What You Should Look for in a Real Estate Agent:

The first thing you need to look for in a real estate agent is if they are licensed in the state they are practicing in. The best way to do this is by verifying with your state’s real estate commission website. If a real estate agent is a member of the National Association of Realtors, they will also have a realtor designation on their profile. Rather than choosing someone that’s just getting their feet wet, you want a real estate agent who has a comprehensive understanding of the market in your area. In other words, you want to look for someone who has knowledge and first-hand experience.

They should be familiar with the neighborhood. They should also be able to tell you about the trends and fluctuations in the market. Their expert insight will help to put your mind at ease. Another important quality you should look for in a real estate agent is their responsiveness. An agent who can think on their feet and communicate in a timely manner may make the difference between you getting the best deal or sorely losing out. The bottom line is, it’s essential to work with an agent who you are comfortable with and who will put your best interests first. Finding the perfect agent takes time, but it is well worth the effort!

Don’t Hesitate to Ask the Important Questions:

Picking the right real estate agent can single-handedly make or break how your successful and effortless your transaction is. You want to avoid any unforeseen difficulties or troubles down the road. To do that, you need to put your interview hat on! Think of your real estate agent as a potential partner. You wouldn’t commit to someone without gathering all the information and details about them, right? The same goes for your prospective real estate agent. Get down to the nitty-gritty and don’t be afraid to ask them the tough questions.

It’s helpful to find a real estate agent that not only understands investing but owns several investment properties themselves. This will help you avoid wasting time with retail agents. Ask them if they work with any rehab contractors and if they or another agent they know personally manages a property. Having a real estate agent with good management skills and strong connections with contractors will give you greater chances of building wealth in real estate. Don’t be afraid to ask them for a list of recent references and sales. In the end, you want to wind up with a real estate agent that you trust. Spend the proper amount of time finding someone who is willing to sit down with you and review your formula. A good chunk of your real estate success will depend on the quality of your agent, remember that!
